Goodbye To You!

Goodbye to you!, originally uploaded by Evelyn Lang.

See ya later long hair! I’m back to my favorite cut again. This is the one my high school English teacher, creepy Miss Flynn, told me had “a sexy curl” around my ear. Eww. Regardless of that remark, this is still my favorite cut. And believe me, growing up the daughter of two hair dressers, I have had my share of styles.

I have left no hair ground uncovered. I have asked for and received every hair treatment and cut imaginable in my lifetime (thanks Mom!). I have been the subject of many haircut experiments (thanks Dad!) I fear no hair style. Shaved? Yes. Permed? Too many times. Colored? Always. Short & spikey? Lots of fun. Have they all looked great on me? Hell no! But at least I can say I have tried everything.

I always yell at the TV screen on those makeover shows where the hair stylist wants to give the girl a fabulous haircut to compliment her new look. And then she freaks out or even CRIES because she doesn’t want her boring hair cut. Get over it – you know what? Hair grows.

I decided about 2 years ago that I wanted to let my hair grow long for my wedding in October 2007. It was a long and arduous process, but I was able to sport a fab up-do on the big day. Afterwards I kind of liked having all that hair so I kept it around for a while. It wasn’t long though, until I got sick of all the brushing, styling and finding long hairs all over the place. I was soo ready for this. Then I measured my hair over the summer and realized I had almost enough to donate so I grew it for another two or three months. Last night I had just about 8 inches cut that I am going to mail off to Pantene Beautiful Lengths – an organization that makes wigs for women who battle cancer.  Hopefully that hair will look better on someone else.
