This morning started with my 6am early visit from one of the residents. She asked me the usual questions about my night – any pain in your abdomen, cramping, contractions? I respond “no, no, no” like usual. This morning she said before leaving “looks like you are starting to defy the odds!” I thought – [...]

When one is on bed rest, it is important to have daily goals. They are pretty small goals, but it helps to accomplish something every day. During my first trip to the hospital, my only goal was “to rest” – this goal was given to me by the nurses every day and they wrote it [...]

Nonstress Test, originally uploaded by Evelyn Lang.
Here I am having a nonstress test, I am looking over at the monitors to watch the data as it tracks by on the screen (think of an EKG). I have one of these tests 3 times a day in my hospital room at 8am, 4pm and 12am, for [...]

A week ago on Tuesday night we were admitted to UConn Health Center because my water broke. It was an intensely scary night, we all thought there was a good chance I was going to have the babies that night. I arrived here by ambulance and received many treatments and through the miracles of modern [...]

This morning we had an unexpected ultrasound test called a biophysical profile. The doctor ordered this test because during my morning non-stress test, Baby B was being a little too quiet and unresponsive for their liking. The biophysical profile is a closer look into what’s going on inside the womb to make sure the babies [...]

Yesterday I had visits all afternoon! ML went home to do some work around the house and finish up some of the final details of the bathroom remodel [...]

We made it through the night once again! Last night at my midnight non-stress test, I actually slept through it. I am getting too used to being disturbed in the night for testing when I can just sleep through it! Today is Sunday Nov 30 and that makes 30 weeks and 1 day for the [...]

Today begins week 30 for us. I am so glad to see that number 3, what a great milestone.
We made it through the night with no trouble once again! No contractions, babies heart rates are good and they’re moving around a lot. We asked the doctors this morning during their rounds when my next ultrasound [...]

It’s November 28th at 5:35pm and we’re still hanging on! No contractions today, babies are still checking out great. I got my IVs removed and will be on oral antibiotics for the next 5 days. The antibiotics are to help prevent infection since Baby A’s bag of waters has broken. There are two things that [...]

Second night in the hospital was uneventful – babies heartbeats are strong and no contractions. The nurses come in to monitor the babies heartbeats, my contractions and check my vitals every 4 hours so sleeping straight through the night is not an option. I’m getting used to this by now though. After the first crazy [...]
